Volunteer appreciation BBQ

Volunteer, Ruth Rivington, honoured for 20 years of service on June 11, 2019 at the Society AGM is pictured here with Pam Willis, Society Manager, on the left and Jenny Gohl, Board Chair on the right.

Volunteers, Staff and Board members of Senior Support gathered at the Air Force Beach Pavillion June 11th for our Annual General Meeting followed by a BBQ. We like to gather at Air Force Beach since it is a location that fits us all, and offers shelter when needed. The weather was excellent, our AGM comprehensive and short, the barbecue fun and the company – first class! Special recognition was given to Ruth Rivington, our longest serving volunteer (1999!). Thank you, Ruth! You are an inspiration to us all.

Volunteer, Alfons, was our barbecue chef. Prior to the event when Alfons was asked ‘How are you on a barbecue?’, Alfons replied, ‘Not good. I squeal a lot’. Despite that warning, burgers were adeptly flipped, there were no squeals, but lots of smiles. Thanks, Alfons for your barbecuing skills. :)
